Comparative assessment of the pulping potentials of soda and mea processes for the development of paper-pulp from sugarcane bagasse

Pulping trials were carried out using MEA and the soda process comparing their pulping potentials. The operating conditions such as concentration of cooking liquor (50%, 75%, 100%) for (10%, 15%, 20%) NaOH, maximum temperature (150oC, 160oC, 170oC) time (60, 90, 120minutes) both processes investigated systematically to establish optimal conditions. agro-biomass used in this investigation is Sugarcane Bagasse viewed alternative raw material pulp paper production. lignin content (19.5%) was low; indicating that should be easier pulp. optimum (independent variables) 75% concentration, 150oC 90 minutes time. Excel 2013 analyze effect independent variables on yield bagasse properties furnished from comparison with Soda which include tear index, tensile burst index folding endurance errors less than 15% all cases. Kappa number range (12.7-16.9), viscosity (270-870 ml/g) brightness (62.1-93.2%) are appropriate high-brightness printing writing papers. physical paper, (13.4 mN.m2/g), (71Nm/g), Burst (4.8 KN/g) (82) recommend cellulosic obtained strengthening virgin fiber recycled papers also developing certain types packaging Due awareness towards negative impact kraft mill’s effluent environment recently, started regain its popularity among mills especially non-wood based mills. more economically attractive given high yield, despite significant increase chemical demand bleaching. a good furnishing temperature, i.e. 150oC, thereby saving considerable amount energy odoriferous pollutants pollution load associated process.
